This is the behind-the-scenes look at my TEDx talk, offering a reflection on my experience and what I've learned throughout the process. Plus it's an opportunity to expand on how my 'great idea worth sharing' came together.

The recap on AFI's October 2017 networking event hosted by General Assembly at WeWork downtown, featuring a panel on Fashion and Technology. As an industry, fashion in many ways is siloed off from our understanding of how and where technology can be implemented to create market disruptions and impactful efficiencies to product development processes. This panel facilated dialogue around new opportunities for innovation throughout the fashion supply chain.
I began developing the idea of the Austin Fashion Initiative after jumping into to the local creative and entrepreneurial community to discover “who was doing what”. I spent weeks reaching out and meeting new people to learn about their projects, pursuits and challenges. After realizing the depth of creative talent, as well as the breadth of expertise on the fashion industry located in Austin (and often working nationally and internationally), it was time to get everyone in a room together to begin taking advantage of the very real opportunities for business development locally.
